Business Development Manager TFS

Remote - Global Projects
Full-time
Permanent employee

We are hiring

Can you sell something that genuinely matters?

We're looking for a Business Development Manager to do exactly that. The job: find companies worldwide that need to export hazardous waste due to lack of local treatment options, and win them as clients - giving those who have no adequate, safe and legal way to treat it at home a way to do it right. Acquisition and closing, a 100% commercial role.

What it is about

TransFrontier Shipments (TFS) moves hazardous and non-hazardous waste across borders - under the Basel Convention and the EU Waste Shipment Regulation, in exactly the markets where waste volumes are growing fastest and treatment capacity is scarcest: the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America. The product works, the unit runs, the clients are there. What's missing is you: the person who finds new generators and brings them to the table.

The market is on your side. Every new regulation, every energy-transition phase-out turns yesterday's material into tomorrow's hazardous waste - and into new clients. And while other consultancies send strategy papers from European offices, BFS is on the ground: embedded in real projects, from Kuwait to Rio. A focused, 100 % commercial role.

Your tasks

What you will do
  • The world is your territory. You track down the big generators of hazardous waste where others aren't looking: the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Latin America.
  • Stay ahead of the market. You spot which regulations (PFAS bans, oil & gas phase-outs, mercury) create new waste streams, and you are at the client's door before the need is official.
  • Open doors. At trade fairs, industry events and remotely: you approach decision-makers, build relationships, and turn contacts into pipeline.
  • Close the deal. From first conversation to signed contract; you build the commercial offer together with the technical team.
  • Put AI to work. So you reach more generators in less time.
Secondary: you keep in touch with our partner facilities and carry forwarded leads through to commitment, then hand them to the operations team (occasional visits, mainly in the EU). Not part of the role: the operational container business (invoices, documents, notifications) and project work – those sit with Operations, with whom you will closely cooperate.

Your profile

Your profile – non-negotiable
  • You are a natural salesperson: Outgoing, well-connected, communicative, positive; you approach people on your own initiative. (No hard-sell type.)
  • You drive things yourself: Structured and disciplined, quick to respond, moving things forward without waiting to be told.
  • You share our mission: Environmental and social justice is something we mean, not marketing.
  • You speak fluent English: Further languages (German, Spanish, French, Arabic) are a real plus given our markets.
Your profile – experience (2-of-3 rule)
You should bring two of the three areas (all three = ideal profile):
  • Sales / BD: With a track record of closed deals, not just advisory work
  • (Hazardous) waste / environmental technology: Industry understanding and hands-on experience
  • International logistics / export: Import-export know-how and the contacts that come with it
The technical knowledge on hazardous waste (Basel Convention, shipment, declaration) we'll teach you - strong willingness to learn assumed.
  • Location: Based in Europe. Remote-first setup, with regular travel to clients, facilities and the Berlin HQ.
