Junior Business Developer Engineer (based in ASEAN / India)

Remote - Indonesien, Bali
Full-time
Fixed-term

We are hiring

At BlackForest Solutions (BFS), we are redefining waste management on a global scale through high-impact consultancy projects across diverse regions and waste streams. We are looking for a Junior Business Development Engineer to join our Business Development team.

BFS operates two core service lines: Technical Consultancy (TC) covers waste characterization, regulatory advisory, and feasibility studies. Trans-Frontier Shipments (TFS) covers cross-border hazardous waste logistics and compliance under the Basel Convention.

In this role, you will drive business development across both our TFS and TC service lines as a junior BD professional. You'll identify new business opportunities, develop client relationships, prepare technical proposals, and manage the pipeline from lead through to handover. You will report directly to the Business Development Manager and also provide dedicated support to the Tenders lead on RFP responses. Based in Southeast Asia or India, you will support business development activities across BFS's global markets including GCC, DACH, Latin America, and Africa.

This is a location-based position: we're looking for candidates based in Southeast Asia (Indonesia and neighboring ASEAN countries) or India, in the same time zone as the Business Development Manager.
As part of your application, please upload your CV, and either a short motivation letter or, if you prefer and want to stand out: a short presentation, or a brief video with a short introduction, followed by what you're currently doing, your experience, your motivation, your biggest success so far, and your salary expectation.
We review applications on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply early.

Your tasks

1. Technical Proposal Support
  • Draft technical sections of TC and TFS proposals under guidance, covering methodology and scope framing, so senior team members can focus on client strategy and pricing.
  • Adapt existing technical content and templates to new project contexts and target markets.
  • Support proposal formatting and assembly once content decisions are made, so proposals move faster from draft to submission.
  • Research relevant regulations, waste streams, and market conditions to inform proposal content.
2. Financial & Commercial Support
  • Prepare cost calculations to support proposal pricing and commercial decisions.
  • Support pipeline forecasting, helping keep revenue projections current and realistic.
  • Support cash flow forecasting for the Business Development function.
  • Prepare financial sections of proposals, working alongside technical content to deliver a complete package.
  • Support process implementation and improvement within the sales department, from templates to workflows.
3. Pipeline, CRM, and Internal Reporting
  • Keep the BD pipeline current in Pipedrive: logging leads, updating stages, flagging opportunities that need attention.
  • Support the weekly BD pipeline update and related internal reporting.
  • Attend select standing internal syncs to capture notes and track action items, so nothing discussed gets lost between meetings.
4. Client and Partner Communication
  • Identify and build relationships with prospective clients and project partners in Southeast Asia and India.
  • Represent BFS toward clients and potential partners, acting as a trusted point of contact and relationship manager.
  • Handle day-to-day client and partner communication, managing inquiries, updates, and relationship continuity.
  • Support the Business Development Manager in relationship development and partnership building.
5. Call Preparation and Debrief Support
  • Prepare briefing materials ahead of BD and tender calls.
  • Document debriefs and next steps after calls, so follow-up items are tracked and actioned.
6. Market Intelligence and Product Readiness
  • Conduct market research and mapping on target regions, sectors, and potential client segments.
  • Maintain the internal dashboard tracking which service offerings are ready to sell versus still in development.
  • Monitor and analyze competitor activity, positioning, and market trends to identify opportunities and inform BFS's positioning.
  • Contribute market intelligence and competitive insights to inform BD strategy.
7. Process Awareness and Continuous Improvement
  • Follow established internal processes for proposal quality and documentation.
  • Contribute ideas for improving tools, templates, and workflows as experience grows.
  • Stay informed on waste management trends and regulatory developments relevant to target markets.

Your profile

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, with a focus on waste management, environmental engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of relevant experience. Prior exposure to technical writing, proposal work, or environmental consulting is an asset but not mandatory. No prior sales experience required.
  • Languages: Fluent English is required. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including comfort with Excel for cost calculations and forecasting. Familiarity with a CRM (Pipedrive or similar) is an advantage. Comfortable working with technical and regulatory content even without deep subject-matter expertise.
  • Soft Skills: Strong written communication, able to turn technical input into clear, client-ready text. Organized and self-driven, comfortable managing multiple threads and switching between drafting, admin, and coordination work. Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks during periods when the Business Development Manager is unavailable or traveling.

What we offer

  • Real exposure to how business development works in a boutique environmental consultancy, from proposal to signed deal.
  • Direct mentorship from the Business Development Manager.
  • A clear path toward a more senior sales or business development role as you grow into it.
  • Work on real environmental challenges in emerging markets where your impact is measurable.
  • Young, international, hands-on team with no corporate hierarchy. You work directly with senior consultants and decision-makers.
  • Learn across multiple markets simultaneously: Southeast Asia, GCC, Africa, and Latin America.
  • Boutique culture that moves fast with real autonomy, backed by deep technical expertise and global client networks.
  • Flexible, remote-first setup, with on-site presence only where a project requires it.
  • Access to BFS's international team and offices in Berlin, Rio de Janeiro, Mumbai, and Dubai.
